What happened to Project 365?

by bethpc on August 22, 2010

Oh, good grief, people, Project 365 is DOA.

I suppose “life kind of got in the way” mixed with “it became a chore” blended with “I have nothing left to take photos of.”  Yeah, I know that ended with a preposition, but, as with Project 365, I can’t find the energy to correct it.

You’ll notice the last photo was put up in JUNE.  That is pathetic, my friends.  So I’m going to have to revamp that whole deal.

The original point of the project was to improve my photography skills by gaining more experience.  I think I’ve gone about as far as I can go without some personal instruction.  Also, it really did become a chore; it would be 10:30 pm and I’d realize I hadn’t taken any photos for the day, so I’d try to throw together something– anything– that was usually crap and did me no good.

So, I did the proper thing, I think, and gave up.  I think giving up is highly underrated.

From here on out, I’m going to change that sidebar from a daily photo post (which, as we all know, hasn’t been daily since June) to an occasional photo post.  I will put up a lovely photo only when I have a lovely one to share.  I think that’s a good compromise.

In the meantime, I must get myself to a good photography class.  As soon as the kiddos are back in school.

Oh, and one last thing.  Remember these peaches from June 22?  The ones that were almost ripe?

Weren’t they beautiful?  Not long after I shot this photo, I noticed some were being eaten.  A few here and there with bites out of them.  THEN, all of a sudden, one morning I came out and the tree was BARE.  Literally, not ONE peach on the tree.  I was kind of devastated.  The only culprit I can imagine are the squirrels.  Damn buggers.  How can one fight the squirrels on their own turf?  I haven’t a clue.  If you have any ideas, send them my way.  Because I fear similar despair every year to come.
