About Me

Welcome!  I’m Beth.  Having recently graduated with my PhD in English Literature, I did what any self-respecting academic with no job prospects would do: I decided to start a blog.  In the midst of writing my esoteric dissertation on the nineteenth-century British novel, I was still managing my home and caring for my two young boys, since my academic work could be done anywhere and my husband was in an office every day.  What I discovered while researching Dickens and Eliot and pondering obscure literary theory was that, here in the real world, I’m remarkably domestic.

I was googling “getting a garden started” and came across Remarkably Domestic. I have enjoyed reading your blog. I love cooking as well. Anyway, I just wanted to say hi. How can I follow your blog? Does that sound creepy?? If so, I am sorry :S I promise I am not a weirdo. LOL!

Hi there! Thanks for stopping by. You can follow the blog two ways. If you use a reader, like Google reader, you can follow the blog on there (type in “remarkably domestic” in the subscription box, and you should find it). Otherwise, you can subscribe via email; you’ll get an email every time there’s a new post. In the left hand column on the blog, you’ll see a link you can click to subscribe via email. Hope that helps! Thanks for reading!

Hi,
This is brilliant site!

Do you have any posts on how to customise & sew page protectors, if not are there any plans to? I know you did one for the brag book but I just wondered if there are any more?

I’d love to know who to do this but can never understand the instructions!

Hi Julie! Thanks for all your great feedback on the site.

I don’t have any posts right now on how to customize and/or sew page protectors; I’ve mainly used pre-made ones and tailored them for my own needs. Is there a particular project you are looking to complete? If you have something specific, maybe I can put something together and do a post just for you! :-) Let me know– you can contact me via the email address on the main page.

You know those hand held gaming systems? My neice got a DS last christmas and the games are really small and slim. Very easy to lose. I’ve checked the stores and their cases can only carry about 4 games. Could you sew a page protector to hold them?
